[Blender] Layer Painter v1.x [2.8]

Layer Painter for Blender

Version: LayerPainterv1.1.4

Layer Painter is an addon for blender 2.8. It uses Eevee to give realtime feedback while creating materials.

For this, the addon offers a powerful layer stack as well as procedural masks and painting features.

Aidy Burrows:

"A much desired and much required set of PBR texturing tools, very impressive and pretty complex materials can be achieved without even entering a node graph once!! "

CG Matter (Caleb Mathers):

"Texture painting (PBR) maps in blender has quite frankly been a pain; LayerPainter gives blender a lot of the functionality you'd expect from a dedicated texturing program like Substance."

Layer system instead of complex node graphs
Layer Painter adds a layer system with PBR channels, which makes creating materials a totally different experience. That means there's no need to worry about complex node trees anymore!

The concept is similar to Substance Painter's approach and takes the concept of layers in a 2D program to create materials for 3D objects.

UI
The addon is packed into an active tool and comes with a workspace.

The UI is designed to give you as much viewport space as possible while focusing on the things that are actually important for your workflow.

Eevee
The addon works in the LookDev mode to give you realtime feedback when creating your materials.

It offers options like rotating the background image with your mouse to improve the workflow.

Function overview

The layer system gives you the power of blending modes to combine textures and procedurals into your material.

The layers generate the nodes, so you don't have to worry about complex node trees anymore.

You have the ability to edit each channel individually for each layer. This enables you to combine the channels in different ways.

There are Fill Layers, Paint Layers and Node Layers. The node layers use node groups to affect the layer.

You can create custom node groups to use in these layers.

Masks can be procedural or painted with textures. This gives you the ability to mix different layers or channels.

You can create custom mask node groups with special inputs like bevel or ao masks which can be baked with the addon.

The PBR baking function allows you to bake your layer stack into textures. These can be used in your material for quicker rendertimes or you can import them in your game or other software.

If you want more detailed information about how this addon works and what it does, take a look at the documentation!

You can also check out this video to see a timelapse of working with the addon.

CG Matter (Caleb Mathers): "LayerPainter takes us one step closer to a blender-only workflow. A must-have for anyone texturing inside blender."

Creation of Characters with ZBrush and Cinema 4D

0
0
You will begin by getting to know more about Zigor's work, who will tell you about his inspiration when creating 3D characters. In addition, it will explain the advantages of using ZBrush with respect to Cinema4D to create your characters.

Afterwards, it will introduce you to ZBrush: it will show you the main tools that this software offers, it will explain how to use the modeling options and it will help you to personalize your workspace.

In addition, it will tell you how to install an extension so you can move your designs from one program to another automatically, making it much easier workflow.

You will do a search of references for your characters, you will model with ZBrush and you will use Cinema4D to add details such as materials, hair and lights and you will make the final render of the scenes of your characters. To finish you will make a render with Octane and you will give the finishing touches with Photoshop.

SDK Games Wind
Version 8 of the SpeedTree SDK implements a faster, one-draw-call capable wind algorithm. This version of the Modeler is the first to feature it is an option in the Games and Indie editions.

Opacity Tweaks
Opacity map boosting in the viewport for preventing screen dooring at lower mips when a2c is enabled has been improved.

TIFF exports switch to lossless compression
TIFF images exported from the Modeler now use LZW compression.

New data in XML exports
Model extents, the parameters for the currently selected wind algorithm, and near/far LOD distances are now saved in XML exports. Leaf reference mesh import transforms are stored as well.

AO adjustments
Refinements have been made to per-vertex AO computations to improve edge case scenarios introduced by oddly shaped models.

Bones in game FBX and raw XML exports
Bones can now be added to FBX or XML files exported via the games exporting system.

Per-Material atlas control
An option has been added to each material to force it into or out of the generated atlases.

Game atlas naming
An option has been added to set a user-controlled name for atlases generated during game exports.

Game export summary
A detailed summary of what got exported including geometry statistics and texture resolutions has been added to the game export system.

Extra help for exported tiffs
Compression type switched to LZW which is lossless and the most common compression method to help combat Adobe’s deflate compressed.

Atlas options
Added the option to force a material in or out of the atlas.

8.4 Bug Fixes
Crash fix: Multiple trees exported into one atlas
A bug that caused a crash when atlasing all open models together has been fixed.

Improved AO edge cases
Removed a bug in the AO computations causing some ground effects. Improved the regular ao ground effect.

Crash Fix: Growth bug
A generator set to “spine only” was causing a crash on growth export.

Bug Fix: Render Photo
Render photo adjusted to not change the mip settings for a tree file.
