Laubwerk SurfaceSPREAD
With the SurfaceSPREAD object you can quickly scatter vast amounts of object clones such as Laubwerk Plants on surfaces. Use parametrical tools, environment-sensitive parameters (slope/height) or manually control your ditributions with help of splines, vertex painting, bitmaps or distribution modifieres.

Distribute objects!
A special filter system enables you to control the clone distribution with geological rules in a way that is reactive to the landscape's topography (Fractal Breakup, Slope and Height), distribution modifiers and standard filters like poly selections and vertex maps. All filters can be combined with each other. Scaling and alignment of the clones can be controlled in many ways, to achieve an ideal result. To ensure a good editor and rendering performance you are provided with a number of performance filter, e.g. to eliminate clones that are outside the camera's field of view, behind mountains or at greater distance. You can also reduce their level of detail or display them as bounding boxes.

Create terrains
SurfaceSPREAD is also a high-quality landscape generator, expanding on Cinema 4D's own landscape object to allow users to create elaborately detailed and customizable terrains, including lakes, rivers and streets, that look great in the foreground, as well as in the distance.
The SPREADscape object generates stunning landscapes and goes a lot further than the standard landscape object of Cinema 4D does.
Build your terrains from up to 7 layers! Each layer can consist of several fractal functions, a spline or a shader/bitmap. All layers can be combined using different mix functions. Using the spline sculpting function you can e.g. create parametric rivers and roads exactly where you want them, and edit them at any time!

3DMotive - 2D Cell Shading in Photoshop

In this course, Colleen Larson will demonstrate methods for quickly coloring character artwork in a cell shaded style, while focusing on production value as well as flexibility. Over the span of four videos, many subjects will be covered, including isolating scanned artwork onto a transparent background, and preparing lines for color using levels. It will also cover how to use clipping masks, layer masks, adjustment layers, and a number of other tools and functions in Photoshop. These tools and techniques will then be put into practice to create a base layer onto which all of the flat local color layers will clip. Adjustment layers will be placed over these flat colors in order to light the character. Throughout the videos, various shortcuts and time-saving methods will be used to speed up workflow as much as possible. Other than speed, the other focus of these methods is their nondestructive quality, which allows the artist to go back into any stage or section of the piece and easily change it. The course also covers how to push the appeal of the character by employing gradients to add dimension and interest, and using a combination of cell shading and painterly techniques to get the most out of the character and ultimately produce a high quality piece of character artwork.

The new Round to Holdline tool generates a round between two (or more) faces of an object. The object can be a surface or a solid object. The round is defined with a holdline curve that lies on the surface. The variable radius of the round along the edge will be determined by the holdline, see example below.
The form•Z interactive display modes have been completely rewritten to take advantage of modern OpenGL capabilities. This is most noticeable in Shaded Full display mode with new real-time ambient occlusion, bump mapping, soft shadows and multi sampling features. These improvements aid in real-time visualization and design evaluation as they yield better depth perception and spatial definition. The image to the right illustrates the effect of these new features.
