In this Maya tutorial, we’ll look at how we built the rigs for the ‘Daydreamer’ production pipeline series.

We’ll move at a fast pace through this course with the goal if giving you a peak into some of the key things you need to consider when approaching the rigs for a project of this size. We’ll also look at how some of the unique rigging challenges were met.

Along the way, you’ll pick up some important tips to help you when working on your own character rigs. Since this isn’t a step-by-step tutorial, we recommend you have a good knowledge of Maya as well as the rigging process by following along with the Introduction to Rigging in Maya before watching this.

By the end of this Maya training, you’ll have an understanding of how all of the rigs were built for this production pipeline series.

Interactive Demolition System. Creates dynamic simulation and demolishes objects accordingly to their material and collision strength. Each fragment can be demolished further with proper amount of collision strength.
Voronoi modifier. Interactive realtime Voronoi shatter modifier.
Bricks modifier. Allows to quickly fragment geometry to Bricks or Stones.
Cache object. Allows to cache geometry and animation in single file to store it outside of scene.
Trace object. Image tracing to fragments.
Fragmenter modifier. Interactive realtime Voronoi shatter modifier.
Clusters modifier. Groups simple fragments into more complex clusters.
Bomb helper. Allows You to create all kinds of explosions.
Fragmentation types. Irregular, Uniform, Voronoi, Wood splinters, Radial, Bricks fragmentation types. Ability to draw cuts over your objects by mouse.
Asperity modifier. Adds detalization to simple geometry and makes them much more realistic.
Slice modifier. Advanced Slice modifier with all features You may need.
Cracks modifier. Animated 3D Cracks inside refractive object.
Voxels modifier. Creates voxels using geometry volume.
Fragmentation by Shapes. Allows to use Shapes as stensil to fragment objects.
Automatic update system.

Install info:

1- Install application
2- Copy and replace the "RayFireTool.mse" file to your "..\Autodesk\3ds Max 2016\plugins\RayFireTool" folder.

In Shading procedural rocks course we'll talk about a generic workflow to create different rock/stone materials. We'll see how to create shaders to simulate peeble stones and how to generate variations about it, then we'll see other examples for different stone materials simulating layering, minerals and scattering. All materials will be created using nested procedural maps as noise, cellular and speckle, everything used inside composite maps with or without masking. Rendering will be done with VRay but materials will use generic workflow to be compatible with all rendering engines.
