The MS SQL Integration Plugin brings the power of .Net in Unreal Engine. With this plugin you can store and retrieve data and images from your SQL Server. Build your own queries and select and update data to your database directly from Blueprints. No restrictions in query formation. Any query working inside SQL Client , works here, which means you can select and update multiple data at once , use joins and sub-queries, as well as create and drop tables via Blueprints.

Technical Details

Features -

1>Asynchronous Connection to your Server via Windows Authentication System as well as SQL Server Authentication System. Asynchronous Connection ensures that your main thread will not be blocked if the connection takes time.

2>Form your Select Queries to Select Data and Images from the SQL Server.

3> Write Insert , Update and Delete Queries to modify data in the SQL Server. Create and Drop Tables directly from Blueprints.

4> Write custom Connectionstring to connect to your server using different connection parameters.

5 > Write Synchronous as well as Asynchronous queries. With Asynchronous queries , you can keep the UI interactive and perform other operations while the query execution happens in the background.

6>Insert Images to your SQL Server from hard disc.

In this tutorial we will focus on creating hair suitable for games. I’ll explain my workflow using 3ds max but I’m sure that this can be replicated in any 3d software. During the years I’ve tried different approaches for making hair and for now I feel like this is the easiest one since I have complete control over each and every hair card rather than grooming in some hair plugin and getting overwhelmed by the massive number of strands. I’m not saying that this is the best way to make hair…this is what I consider the less time consuming approach and with the best results.
This tutorial includes the marmoset scene with all the textures and source files for the head:

3ds max scene
Photoshop file with all the textures for the hair
Fbx file of the final optimized hair

The photoshop plugin made by Cristian Buliarca that I'm using to save my textures fast can be found here:

3DMotive – Modeling The Walter P99 Volume 2

In Modeling the Walther P99, we will go over on how to create the high and low poly of...you guessed it, a Walther P99 handgun! We will first go over our reference where we will talk about the best way to approach a complicated model such as this one. Next, we will then move onto creating the body for our high poly model using clean geometry and a non destructive workflow. After that we will do a timelapse, finishing all small details on the body. Then once that is done we will move into the top part of the gun where we will use a combination of plane modeling and line modeling to get a good and accurate result. Once again, we will finish off with an timelapse of the remaining parts. During all timelapses there will still be a narration explaining the tought progress behind all the choices I make. Then finally when everything is done, we will use the non destructive workflow to turn our high poly back into a low poly and optimize it until it is a game ready model.
