CGCookie - Compositing a 3D Monster into a Live Action Scene

5 Hrs | Video: AVC (.mp4) 1280x720 | Audio: AAC 44.1KHz 2ch | 844 MB
Genre: eLearning | English

In this course I will show you some of the major stages of a Visual Effects (VFX) pipeline by doing a fun little project: Compositing a 3D monster into some life action footage. The scope of this course is speficficaly teaching you the VFX skills so we won’t be focusing on modeling and animation much. We are going to grab a pre-modeled and pre-rigged character from Blendswap, made by Theory Animation: George.
First I will cover some housekeeping to get familiar with the file structure as well as some small tasks like fixing a few bone-weights and modifying the shaders of our monster. Since we are not going to cover the whole animation process, I will use a pre made run-cycle. However, this cycle needs some minor cleanup so I’ll go over that real quick. If you are interested in creating a run-cycle yourself. It’s perfectly fine to follow the course with your own run-cyle. A great resource to make George run is the tutorial by his creators at TheoryAnimation!

This is the first book written on using Blender (an open-source visualization suite widely used in the entertainment and gaming industries) for scientific visualization. It is a practical and interesting introduction to Blender for understanding key parts of 3D rendering that pertain to the sciences via step-by-step guided tutorials. Any time you see an awesome science animation in the news, you will now know how to develop exciting visualizations and animations with your own data.

3D Scientific Visualization with Blender takes you through an understanding of 3D graphics and modeling for different visualization scenarios in the physical sciences. This includes guides and tutorials for: understanding and manipulating the interface; generating 3D models; understanding lighting, animation, and camera control; and scripting data import with the Python API. The agility of Blender and its well organized Python API make it an exciting and unique visualization suite every modern scientific/engineering workbench should include. Blender provides multiple scientific visualizations including: solid models/surfaces/rigid body simulations; data cubes/transparent/translucent rendering; 3D catalogs; N-body simulations; soft body simulations; surface/terrain maps; and phenomenological models. The possibilities for generating visualizations are considerable via this ever growing software package replete with a vast community of users providing support and ideas.

Welcome to this installment of Type Project, where Nigel French shows you how to choose historically appropriate typefaces and apply design treatment to fit a particular style.
Here he uses Illustrator and Photoshop to create a type treatment inspired by Grunge-the style most commonly associated with the music scene that originated in Seattle in the 1980s and 90s, and continues to resonate today. Learn how to create a background "wall" of type using Illustrator symbols, delete the counter spaces, and distress the design with dirty type.
